Listen to Morgan Lyle's Show...
Morgan Lyle uses simple flies to catch trout in the mountains, stripers at the beach and any other fish he can reach with a cast. Sometimes the best fly is a simple one. Whether you're a beginner looking to get started with tying or an expert looking to get back to basics Morgan will explain all the techniques, tools and materials you need to tie simple flies.
He is the former fly-fishing writer for About.com and blogger at The Fly Line. A longtime journalist, his work has appeared in media including Newsday and The New York Times. He learned to fly-fish on Esopus Creek in the Catskills and lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Simple Flies examines how and why extremely simple flies work so well for trout, bass and saltwater fish, and is an excellent introduction to fly-tying for the beginning tyer.
Author and Orvis Rod & Tackle Marketing Manager Tom Rosenbauer said, “This is truly one of the best fly-tying books I’ve seen in years.” Kirk Deeter, author, editor-at-large for Field & Stream and editor of Trout magazine, called Simple Flies “enlightening and entertaining.” Pat Cohen, owner of Super Fly, said, “Whether you are new to fly-tying or an experienced dresser, this book will guide you through proven methods of tying and fishing simple flies.”
